This was literally (and somewhat surprisingly) our best meal in Mazatlan this trip. The beer battered shrimp are just excellent. The shrimp were huge, plump and juicy and the beer batter was excellent. Served with delicious dipping sauces and fries in a bucket. Loved it! Will return on future trips for sure.

It is time to contradict my previous review as Shrimp Bucket is now on my list of go to places for breakfast every trip. A local friend of mine likes to go out for breakfast early like myself so this is his favorite spot. Usually the service is very good, occasionally they are very busy and service is a little slow but the food is always wonderful. Last trip in November 2016 I brought friends here after a morning hike up to the lighthouse so we were ready to tie on the feedbags. Which we did. They were extremely impressed at the quantity and quality of the food. Also for some odd reason we love sitting right by the street watching all the activity with the ocean right in the background.

I stay at the La Siesta often and therefore find myself having breakfast at El Shrimp Bucket at least a couple times each stay. They open at 7 AM which is before most restaurants in the Olas Altas area. They have a lot of items to choose from and their prices are quite reasonable, especially if you go for one of the combos. You get juice, coffee and your meal, which is a very generous portion, for about 90 pesos as I remember.

Of course El Shrimp Bucket has been around a long time, over 50 years. I remember when it was the social center of Mazatlan when I first arrived in 1968. She’s an old gal but still has a lot going for her.

Just went there today for the first time, tried the Carreta Marlin Stew, verry good and only 85 pesos plus the coldest cervesa i had in Mazatlan.

Had breakfast there only once. Prices seemed a little steep and the service from the waiter I had was very slow, almost had to beg him to pay my bill.

Thanks for starting the restaurant reviews. We’ve been enjoying the Shrimp Bucket’s extensive breakfast menu for Sunday a la carte brunch for several decades.
