El Fish Market
There are two locations of this great restaurant in Mazatlan. One in Olas Altas and one in the north end of the Golden Zone.
Early on in our vacation, my girlfriend and I went to the Olas Altas location for a very decadent lunch. We sat in the sunshine, enjoying the location, the view and the people watching while dining on succulent Alaskan King Crab with fresh drawn butter. It was delicious – and decadent! A very nice afternoon.
Many times in our trip I then had the pleasure of frequenting the Golden Zone location which was closer to home. Sadly, throughout my entire trip they never had Clam Chowder. They surprisingly said that they order it from the US and they hadn’t received any in awhile. I did, however, on several occasions frequent them to get their Oysters Rockefeller for take out. They offer 12 oysters for 150 pesos and they are very good. You see, in our condo, frequently someone in the building will have “Happy Hour” at their place and it is customary to bring a snack. Unfortunately, I am not good at snacks because I don’t shop and I don’t cook in Mazatlan so I’m not really sure where to go to get the best stuff. But I discovered these oysters and they were a hit! So every Happy Hour we had Oysters Rockefeller – well, except for the last one that I brought them too. That one they snuck Clams Casino into the to go containers which I didn’t discover until I started plating them. Oh well, no one complained.
