Visited the new location of Angelina’s on three occasions this year. While I had stopped in to speak with Angelina at her old location last year, I had never eaten there.
It has been receiving rave reviews so I knew I’d have to try it out but I felt like the online menu was less than entirely exciting. So on the first visit I was pleased to find that their menu has more items on it than the online menu reveals. This visit was part of a patio crawl so we were looking for a drink and an appy to share – and we were not disappointed. We sat at the bar and the bartender was excellent. He recommended their signature drink – the Basil Martini. My girlfriend ordered one and sadly I went for the Mango Martini. It was good but just didn’t stand up against the Basil Martini which was just excellent. Now I know what you are thinking but just trust me and try it! We also shared the Tapas Espanolas. These were excellent! They were so good that I also shared them with other friends on my following two visits.
My second visit wasn’t perfect but it still was a great time enjoyed by friends. We, of course, started with a round of Basil Martini’s which everyone enjoyed – well, except maybe me. Mine had a beetle in it – which my friends quickly named Ringo (get it? a beetle names Ringo?? Totally funny!) Anyways, they quickly replaced my drink and I was back enjoying their signature drink. Then we shared the Tapas Espanolas, and again, my friends all thoroughly enjoyed them. For my entrée I ordered the Shrimp and Goat Cheese Pizza. Unfortunately, it did not arrive. Everyone else had received their dinners and had eaten so I told the waiter not to bring it. About 15 or 20 minutes later, as everyone was paying their bill, the pizza arrived. I took it anyways, thinking I could put it in the freezer and eat it for a late night snack. Well, that never happened. I hardly ate this trip and was never home so the day that I was leaving the poor pizza was thrown in the garbage.
I did visit one other time and enjoyed a lovely evening with great new dinner guests. We again shared the Tapas and then I had the Fettucini Alfredo which was good. We also enjoyed a very nice bottle of wine and an excellent evening.
Angelina’s is located behind the Freeman Hotel and about a block away from Macaws.
