Does somebody have some information on the demolition/or not of Puerto Viejo for the construction of a condo tower ?

I heard about it a couple of months ago. The proposal was for a multi-story (12???) condo building on the Puerto Viejo site that would completely block the ocean view from Glenn and Sharon’s, and greatly inconvenience them during construction. At the time, the necessary approvals were held up. Haven’t heard anything since.

Take a look at these two sites.  You will probably have to read down a bit…

All Olas Altas is torn up sidewalk and streat, also Angel Flores. Restaurant in Centro are losing 70% sale and no tips for the workers that mean almost no salary.

The Puerto Viejo property changed hands about a month or two ago, and the business is now shuttered and closed.

The building will be razed, and the lot cleared for a 12 story tower.  In itself, while disappointing for many, that’s not surprising and in line with what appears too be Mazatlan’s future.

What is surprising, and bothering many who to maintain the classic look of El Centro, are the insistent reports the new building is going to be quite modern looking.
